Other than religion and spirituality, I look at music as the most inspirational and touching thing we have here on earth. With that being said, I’m starting out my first blog on ChrisMichaelsVOICE.com with the inspiration of “Dream Weaver” by Gary Wright.
My parents were together for over 40 years. Within the past 7 years, they have both passed away. It leaves a huge hole in my heart. While they were alive and throughout their own life’s hard moments..they always looked upon “Dream Weaver” to get them through. I never understood it fully, but as I have lost them, I find myself looking at the meaning of that song’s lyrics and it pulls me through, too. Surprisingly, I don’t believe my parents even researched the lyrics..the song just helped them get through.
Mom and dad were always so supportive of my voice work, and I remember mom always saying “One day you’ll be the voice of The Price is Right!” Although I never really wanted to be the voice of that show, it still made me feel like a million bucks. She always wanted to see me do big things, and although not here on earth now. I believe she’s still looking down and smiling on this journey of mine, which has spanned over 25 years.
“Dream Weaver” was inspired from the Autobiography of a Yogi – which speaks about the methods of attaining God-realization. Paramhansa Yogananda’s poem “God! God! God!” made reference to the idea of the mind, weaving dreams as well. It’s a deep subject that has little to do with Voiceover work or Acting – but everything to do with creating your own success and happiness – in whatever you do.
Listening to Dream Weaver, and knowing what influenced the lyrics, not only keeps my mom and dad somehow close to me, but it also helps me to break away from the influences and dogmas that life can bring.
It empowers me to do my best. Bring my best. Be my best. It empowers me to start this new Voice Acting journey, never looking back.
The future of happiness and success is whatever is created. So let’s start creating…together!
